Jewel of the Body

Eyes are a sign of great beauty......It's so true that 90% of the Bollywood movies introduce their lady leads by showcasing their eyes first to the (dumb) hero. (The remaining 10% has the hero seeing the heroine for the 1st time while she's sleeping)...... Imagine your girl/boy getting her/his eyes close to yours and looking into your eyes and you find her/him having eyebrows and eyelashes long and silky as her/his hair.....Story ends there! Ever wondered why don't we have long and silky eyebrows/eyelashes that makes us look scarier? Why don't eyelashes grow long like our hair??

The reason is that, the hair follicles (they are the part of the skin that grow hair by packing old cells together) that supply the hair on your brows and your eyelashes are different (just like the hair on your legs and arms and the other hair on your body(!) ) from the hair follicles on your scalp. Scalp follicles produce hair from excess proteins your body doesn't need, or from recycled protein from your body. It does this at a continuous rate which is why your hair on your head can grow quite long (to the floor if you care for it!). The other follicles in your body go through cycles. The hair is allowed to grow for a certain period of time and then the follicle stops and the hair falls out (have you noticed you can pull your eyelashes/eyebrows or they just fall out, but you never seem to run out). So your eyebrows, and your lashes, grow in cycles. The length of them is determined by the length of your cycle, which is determined by your genes, which is why everyone's brows ,lashes, leg, arm and (!) hair are all different.
