Jewel of the Body

Eyes are a sign of great beauty......It's so true that 90% of the Bollywood movies introduce their lady leads by showcasing their eyes first to the (dumb) hero. (The remaining 10% has the hero seeing the heroine for the 1st time while she's sleeping)...... Imagine your girl/boy getting her/his eyes close to yours and looking into your eyes and you find her/him having eyebrows and eyelashes long and silky as her/his hair.....Story ends there! Ever wondered why don't we have long and silky eyebrows/eyelashes that makes us look scarier? Why don't eyelashes grow long like our hair??

The reason is that, the hair follicles (they are the part of the skin that grow hair by packing old cells together) that supply the hair on your brows and your eyelashes are different (just like the hair on your legs and arms and the other hair on your body(!) ) from the hair follicles on your scalp. Scalp follicles produce hair from excess proteins your body doesn't need, or from recycled protein from your body. It does this at a continuous rate which is why your hair on your head can grow quite long (to the floor if you care for it!). The other follicles in your body go through cycles. The hair is allowed to grow for a certain period of time and then the follicle stops and the hair falls out (have you noticed you can pull your eyelashes/eyebrows or they just fall out, but you never seem to run out). So your eyebrows, and your lashes, grow in cycles. The length of them is determined by the length of your cycle, which is determined by your genes, which is why everyone's brows ,lashes, leg, arm and (!) hair are all different.

The X-Factor

"x" is definiely the most famous symbol in Mathematics. Infact, every other unknown entity that we come across we name it as "x". It has crept in so much into our lives that we take pleasure in introducing "most special people of the past" you and me had, to our current "special person" as "x"...as in x-gf/x-bf....in future probably x-wife/husband....:)

Ever wondered why is everyone in the world ignoring the rest 25 of the letters? Here's the answer...the Arabic word used to represent an unknown quantity was "shei". The mighty Greeks transcribed this into "Xei". With time this was shortened to "X" and hence we still use it today!

Why is BOBBY so short??

Have you guys ever thought why the short socks are called BOBBY socks? is he/ she the founder of that socks?? ha..ha... lets see what j-c gotta say about it..

"Bobby" is no person but it comes from 'bob', meaning to cut short, as in bobtail , bobby pins and bobbed hair. Since the socks described by this term are cut much shorter than the earlier knee-high socks guys and gals wore, they were called "bobby socks" :)

HOW high is CLOUD 9???

Very often people say they are on cloud 9 indicating a feeling of utmost happines or achievement. What has this cloud named as "9" got to do with it? Why not any other cloud? Well the myth goes this way......In Dante's Paradise, the 9th level of heaven is closest to the Divine Presence, which itself dwells at the 10th and highest heaven. This notion may have enhanced the popularity of the expression on cloud nine......there are another set of people who have other reasoning......The US Weather Bureau arranges the cloud formations in a numerical sequence, with 9 levels of clouds. Types of clouds are numbered according to the altitudes they attain, with nine being the highest number a cloud can be assigned. So if someone is on cloud nine, that person is floating well above worldly cares. :) Another account evokes the mystical quality of the number nine. Nine is a trinity of trinities -- three threes equal nine -- and as such is considered the perfect number......but my numerology has got different numbers for me. I believe the second one suits us all where in each one of us believe we are better than every single human being on the Earth.

WHY is Merc named Merc?

Y is Mercedes-Benz called Mercedes-Benz? Well, you might say beacuse it's named Mercedes Benz. Infact it's more than that. J-C has got the answer for u......In January of 1886, Karl Benz unveiled the world's first automobile, a three-wheeled vehicle dubbed the Benz Patent Motor Car. A few months later, Gottlieb Daimler and his chief engineer Wilhelm Maybach rolled out a four-wheeled vehicle powered by his Daimler engine. The first Mercedes was crafted in 1901, shortly after Daimler's death. Built by Maybach, the car was commissioned by Emil Jellinek, one of Daimler's primary distributors, and was ultimately named after Jellinek's daughter, Mercedes. In 1926, the companies founded by Daimler and Benz merged to form Daimler-Benz AG, and the Mercedes-Benz brand was born. The company's insignia was a three-pointed star wreathed in a laurel; the star was dreamed up by Daimler years earlier, and its three points signified the fact that his engines were for use in vehicles that traveled land, air and sea.

WHY is the Boxing "Ring" "Square"?

Have u ever wondered why the boxing 'ring' is not actually a ring but a SQUARE?? J-C tells you why.....In the early days of professional fist fighting, groups of fighters would travel from town to town challenging the local men. The fighters would arrange a few of the spectators in a circle and have them hold a ring of rope. Any man wishing to challenge one of the boxers would "toss his hat into the ring." The bout would then take place in this early boxing "ring."As the number of spectators increased, the hand-held ring no longer sufficed, and it became necessary to fashion an enclosure by attaching ropes to stakes driven into the ground. Four stakes were normally used, which produced a square enclosure, but it continued to be called a boxing ring.
